Frequently Asked Questions
+ Is it possible to learn music online?
Absolutely! We have been teaching online lessons for years now. Even students who have learned with us in person have continued their learning from home and developed their music skills further.
+ How can I learn music at home?
It’s easy, grab an instrument, a phone or laptop and we’ll connect with you! We will make the process as easy as we can for you.
+ Where can I learn music theory online?
Music theory is integrated into all of our lessons as well as practical skill building. You can choose to have lessons purely in music theory if that’s what you would like to focus on.
+ How do I start learning music?
The best way is to find a great teacher and start regular weekly lessons. Be patient and in no time you’ll see that you have improved drastically from where you started.
+ How much do lessons cost?
We offer 30 minute, 45 minute and 60 minute lessons. 30 minute lessons are $39, 45 minute lessons are $58 and 60 minute lessons are $75.
+ Can you learn music at any age?
RMA is a different music school to most. At our school, adults make up the majority of students. There is an assumption that it’s not possible to learn music later in life, this is simply not true. If you are committed, you will achieve results no matter your age.
+ Do you teach absolute beginners?
Beginners are very welcome at our school. Almost all of our students start from the very first steps and begin their music journey with us.
+ What is the easiest musical instrument to learn for adults?
In our opinion, it’s best to pursue the instrument that you truly want to learn. This will provide you with the motivation you need to overcome any challenges. All instruments are different, the one that speaks to you will be the best choice.
+ How do online music lessons work?
It’s simple, just book in a lesson with us by phone, email or our online booking system and let us know how you would like us to connect to you. You might prefer to learn using Skype, Zoom, Facetime or Whatsapp. Once we have the important info we will reach out to you and start the lesson.
+ Do you have a specific program or curriculum you teach to?
We do not. At the academy, we tailor our teaching to suit the student’s interests. We like to keep on a structured path, but according to your own learning style we will find an approach that fits you best.
+ Are the lessons one-on-one or in groups?
We primarily teach one on one lessons at our school. We have found it’s the best way to teach seeing as everyone is different and we like to tailor our approach to the student. Occasionally, we do run group workshops. These will be announced on our website.
+ I work full time, do you teach after hours?
Yes. We do the bulk of our teaching from 3pm till 10pm on weekdays. On weekends, we start in the morning and run until mid afternoon. If these times don’t work for you, please give us a call or email and we’ll do our best to find a time that works for you.
